AntiMal Conference in 2011

AntiMal has joined forces with the Royal Society of Chemistry to run a conference in 2011 to celebrate the achievements of the AntiMal project.  The conference will take place at the Royal College of Physicians in London on the 15th and 16th March 2011.  

 

Scientists develop new drug treatment for malaria

Scientists at the University of Liverpool and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine have produced a new antimalarial drug that is more chemically stable in the body than current malaria treatments.

Intellectual Property and Clincial Trials Course

In September 2010 members of the AntiMal consortium visited Gabon in Western Africa to meet up with the Medical Research Institute in Lamberene where we held a four day Intellectual Property (IP) and Clinical Trials course.   Day 1 covered an introduction to IP and days 2 and 3 were devoted to Clinical Trials.  On day 4 there was also an optional mornings visit to the clinical trial site in Lambaréné.  The course was tailored to the needs of AntiMal partners and offered a unique opportunity to gain specific and relevant training in two areas that are essential to drug development.

AntiMal Symposia at the MIM Conference

The 5th Pan-African MIM conference was held at the Kenyatta Centre in Nairobi, Kenya from the 2nd to the 6th November. AntiMal took the podium, hosting two symposia on antimalarial drug development.  Read More..

ESAC Review March 2009

The goal of the AntiMal project is to establish a portfolio of new antimalarial drugs from within the European scientific community and to select candidates from within the portfolio for progression to “first into man” studies within the 5 year programme .  Read More

New African Partners Join the AntiMal Consortium

The AntiMal consortium has expanded to 34 partners with the integration of three new partners from Africa.

Launch of Competitive Call for Funding of Antimalarial Drug Discovery in Sub-Saharan Africa

Funding of up to 1 million Euros over three years is available for research in Africa.   The aim is to build long-term  sustainable institutional capacity in the field of antimalarial drug discovery.   Funding is supported by the EU FP6 financed AntiMal project in collaboration with MIM/TDR.  The deadline for applications was 15th July 2007...
